Tanner Chair in Next-Generation Sensing and Integrated Systems for Healthcare
Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth invites applications for the Tanner Chair, a tenure-line faculty position within Dartmouth’s Academic Cluster for Improving Healthcare Outcomes through Sensory Technology. We particularly encourage applications from outstanding candidates for the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, including postdoctoral scholars ready to launch an independent research program, while exceptional candidates for full Professor will also be considered.
Dartmouth’s Academic Cluster for Improving Healthcare Outcomes through Sensory Technology brings together faculty across engineering, computer science, neuroscience, and medicine to develop nextgeneration technologies for human health, performance, and longevity. The Cluster creates opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration spanning sensing and devices, computation, clinical research, and translation.
We seek candidates who show strong potential to lead an externally funded research program targeting transformational advances in next-generation sensing and integrated systems for healthcare. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research creates connections across sensing and devices, circuits, computation, and systems, including integrated and closed-loop approaches that bring these capabilities together, with the potential to translate technological advances toward meaningful improvements in human health and performance.
Research areas include, but are not limited to, bioelectronics and novel sensing technologies; healthcare-related analog/mixed-signal, energy-efficient, and RF/wireless circuits and systems; wearable, implantable, and integrated sensing systems; computational and intelligent sensing; and neuromorphic and bio-inspired sensing and computing. Candidates whose work bridges or connects multiple areas are especially encouraged to apply. The position offers opportunities to collaborate with faculty in the Improving Healthcare Outcomes through Sensory Technology Cluster and across Thayer School of Engineering, the Department of Computer Science, Geisel School of Medicine, and Dartmouth Health. We particularly welcome candidates whose research can create new connections and amplify existing strengths across these communities.
We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in teaching and mentorship and whose interests complement Thayer’s interdisciplinary approach to engineering education. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, advise and mentor students, and help foster an intellectually engaging and collaborative educational environment.
The Tanner Chair provides an opportunity to develop a high-impact research program and contribute intellectual leadership to Dartmouth’s growing efforts in sensing, circuits, computation, integrated systems, and healthcare technology, supported by collaborative research communities and advanced facilities across Dartmouth.

Qualifications
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in electrical or computer engineering, bioengineering, materials science, computer science, or a closely related field. Applicants should demonstrate an outstanding record of research achievement or strong potential for such achievement, the potential to establish and sustain an externally funded research program, and a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and collaborative scholarship.
