HVAC Controls Service Technician II

Description
Position Purpose
As a LONG Controls Service Technician II, you will support customers by troubleshooting and programming temperature control systems hardware and software based on customer complaints and concerns, or as identified by Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) software. Using your education, experience, and expertise in the commercial HVAC industry, you will perform emergency and preventative maintenance services on installed systems. You will also leverage your experience and skills to support our Impact-Driven Service offering that includes Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) software and task management and resolution. Additionally, you will provide guidance and consultation to the customer client base regarding your job tasks and recommended solutions. You will also mentor, coach and guide junior service technicians in a team environment.
Pay Range: $33 - $40 per hour, plus potential profit share.
Sign on bonus of up to $3,500

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide inspections and assessments of the conditions of control systems for physical damage, wear and tear, and signs of degradation
Perform preventative maintenance such as cleaning, part replacements, software updates, or system optimizations to minimize the risk of failures and malfunctions
Utilize industry experience to troubleshoot any issues with systems to identify and implement solutions
Effectively communicate with customers to answer any inquiries, offer guidance, and resolve technical issues
Educate system users about the proper function and upkeep to products
Supply information to customers about investing into necessary replacements or vital repairs that are key components to devices
Keep record of all repairs and maintenance and properly report issues to the technical supervisor
The ability to Independently diagnose a broad range of complex system issues and rectify them to the client's satisfaction and according to LONG Standards.
Provide guidance and support to other controls service technicians about system maintenance, troubleshooting issues and equipment recommendations on and off the jobsite
Provide technical expertise and implement standardized procedures to maximize control system efficiency
Program databases for supported systems to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturers recommendations, in accordance with LONG standards and contract documents
Perform calibration and check-out of control systems, and ensures that specified sequence of operations and commissioning obligations are met
Instruct customer's personnel on operation and maintenance of temperature control systems and energy conversation routines
Independently create pricing and quotes, including time and materials (T&M) estimates, for potential self-performed small projects or upgrades offered to clients.
Utilize FDD platform to evaluate faults, diagnostics, equipment and building performance and provide FDD task completion, and confirm task resolution (as applicable)
Provide information to update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation (submit all redlined drafting to application engineers)
On-call work may be required on a periodic basis.
Other duties assigned as the team and service offerings change/grow.
Qualifications
2+ years of field operations experience
Associates degree in computer/electronic technical and 1 year's temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience or 3-5 years temperature control system start-up, checkout, and service experience.
Ability to legally operate a company vehicle.
Extensive knowledge of HVAC, control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.
Proficient programming and troubleshooting skill with KMC, Distech, Tridium/Honeywell, and other equivalent systems.
An aptitude for computers and/or mechanical equipment and a strong drive to self-teach and expand knowledge of different systems.
Strong analytical skills in solving software and integration challenges.
Ability to interpret mechanical plans and specifications.
Ability to independently handle multiple tasks simultaneously and willingness to accept responsibility and accountability.
Strong customer service and analytical skills.
Possesses effective communication skills (written and verbal)
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of tech school
Completion of the ASP Program
Knowledge of LONG's operations, procedures, and infrastructure, as it pertains to construction operations.

Physical Requirements
This work may involve standing for extended periods, climbing ladders or scaffolds, and working in tight spaces.
Ability to lift 50 lbs. from floor to countertop and countertop to floor.
