Description: The Journeyman Welder is responsible for performing advanced welding tasks with a high degree of precision and skill. This position requires a high level of expertise to ensure the integrity and safety of the weld. Additional tasks to assist in the installation of materials and piping may also be required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, and the capacity to work both independently and within a team setting. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to operate a variety of welding equipment are essential.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Perform welding tasks with a high degree of precision and skill in accordance with specifications
- Read and interpret technical blueprints and schematics
- Operate various welding equipment, including MIG, TIG, and stick welders
- Assess and select appropriate welding methods and materials
- Perform troubleshooting and problem-solving tasks
- Ensure all welding tasks comply with safety and quality standards
- Conduct welding inspections and quality control procedures
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Proficiency in welding techniques including but not limited to MIG, TIG, and stick welding
- Ability to work with various piping materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, PVC, poly/HDPE, copper, and various high pressure/temperature alloys
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Skilled in performing quality control inspections and weld testing
- Ability to operate mechanically powered lifting equipment for both personnel and materials as trained
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and precision in work
- Familiarity with metal fabrication and repair
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform welding tasks in various positions
- Ability to work in various environmental conditions
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a welder preferred
- Familiarity with Refrigeration, HVAC and other process systems
- Strong knowledge of welding standards and safety protocols
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and practices
- Experience with welding different materials such as steel, aluminum, and stainless steel
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality welds
- OSHA 10-hour certification preferred
- RETA level 1 or 2 certification preferred
- Certified Welder status (AWS, CWB, or equivalent) preferred
Travel Requirements:
- Anticipated 100% travel to project sites nationwide
- Ability to travel occasionally to attend meetings, trainings, and events
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to wear and utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
- Bend, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
- Ability to perform repetitive movements
- Ability to move in and around confined and cluttered places and uneven areas
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to and exceeding 50 pounds
- Adequate vision to perform all required tasks
- Work on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops
- Comfortable with heights and able to climb and descend safely
- Strong sense of balance and spatial awareness
- Participate in respiratory fit testing and use as required
